One for the Ages: Marketing Libraries to Baby Boomers and the Greatest Generation

Today's senior citizens are comprised of several generations who have different needs and demands. Some people from these generations are finding that their grandchildren may only communicate through email, and Grandma and Grandpa are lacking in computer skills. Libraries are a venue that can help fulfill these needs. ALS in East Peoria will hold a workshop on June 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide an overview of aging, talk about ageism, programming ideas, and working with older adults. Participants will learn how and where to market their programs, and hopefully will leave with ideas for creating meaningful programs both inside the library and off-site. The workshop is sponsored by the Alliance Library System, Mid-Illinois Talking Book Center, and the Illinois State Library Talking Book and Braille Service. The cost of the workshop is $10 to cover the cost of lunch. If this is a serious financial hardship for anyone who would like to attend, please let us know. To register, go to Alliance Library System CLEO, contact Lori Bell at the Mid-Illinois Talking Book Center at 800/426-0709 or Ann Schaller at Alliance Library System.

*National Storytelling Festival Coach Trip
